This research report is a compilation of essays which represent examination papers on the doctoral course, Norm Science, 15 ECT credit points, the class 2009/2010. The object of the course is to consider the community through norms and to analyze the relationship between individual, society and nature in a norm perspective. Norms are assigned both to the individual, society and nature and has therefore been studied on the basis of literature in these three areas. This means that both the classic social psychological point of sender and receiver, and system-generated norms without sender, so called independent imperative, is reviewed in the course and reflected in the articles. The Norm concept is defined and the character of different categories of norms is discussed.

For the understanding of the relationship between law and norms, it is necessary to distinguish at least six different relationships, which are commented on in the different papers.
