Beskrivning

The aim with this study was to identify conditions, strategies and work practices at the workplaces that contributed to create good and bad psychosocial working conditions. Employees and their organizations were studied over a period of six years. Nine cases from different workplaces with evident good and bad working conditions were chosen for a deeper analysis. An external perspective was used for assessing the conditions and strategies. This information is probably valid for several employees at the workplace, regardless of their opinions of their jobs.
The results show that there were clear differences in managerial and employee strategies and work practices between the good and bad job cases. In the good job cases, managers had an active strategy with their subordinates, upwards in the organization and outwards in inter-organizational relations. An important characteristic among employees in good job cases was the use of collective strategies and work practices.
