Pachamama is a feminine spiritual figure in Andean cosmology, popularly translated to Mother Earth. In contemporary Bolivia, this figure has entered the stage of environmental struggles, where different groups of people claim to march for her, in a practical or more symbolic sense. This raises questions about how knowledge and legitimacy are constructed in accounts about the environment, what defending Pachamama means, and who is best suited for it.
