Biochemistry uses chemical principles to answer fundamental questions in life sciences. To utilize living cells and their functional components to solve challenging problems in technical applications, we need to understand how cells retrieve chemical energy from their environment and use the acquired chemical energy to do all the work necessary for living and replication.
