Det &auml;r kring dessa tv&aring; huvudfr&aring;gest&auml;llningar som Bengt-&Aring;ke Gustafsson r&ouml;r sig i den h&auml;r avhandlingen. Avhandlingens empiriska material har h&auml;mtats fr&aring;n fyra industrif&ouml;retag som alla genomf&ouml;rt omfattande f&ouml;rs&ouml;k att f&ouml;r&auml;ndra organisationen av produktionen. Tre av f&ouml;retagen ing&aring;r i globala industrikoncerner. Det fj&auml;rde f&ouml;retaget i studien &auml;r ett mindre och relativt nystartat industrif&ouml;retag. F&ouml;r samtliga studerade f&ouml;retag g&auml;ller att avsikten med f&ouml;r&auml;ndringen varit att &aring;stadkomma en processorienterad produktionsorganisation och d&auml;rtill en processorienterad organisatorisk mening.
